Ayutthaya, sort of
Up for the 8 am train, actually up, and no wallet. Not in the room, not in my jeans. Walked back to the bar downstairs from the rooftop, the day manager had it in a drawer, lovely woman, and also had a tab I had opened at midnight and never closed. 8,000 baht. Rounds for the Aussies, rounds for the Aussies' friends, something with an umbrella in it, a bottle at the end I don't remember ordering. Paid it. That is more than I had budgeted for the whole week's drinking, gone in one night. Sat on the curb
for a while. Van to Ayutthaya at noon instead, 400 baht for a seat when the train is 15, 95 degrees. Saw two temples, the Buddha head in the tree roots, good, then sat in the shade with a Coke for an hour. Flight to Chiang Mai tonight, an hour in the air, cheaper than I expected. Two beers at the gate, one on the plane. Guesthouse by ten, asleep by ten past.
